Our History

The inception of Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology (MGUMST) can be traced back to the establishment of the Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Jaipur.

The journey began in the year 2000 when Mahatma Gandhi Hospital was founded with the noble objective of providing compassionate and high-quality medical services to the community.

Years of Legacy

Recognizing the imperative for a holistic approach to healthcare, the Mahatma Gandhi Medical College was established in 2001 to complement the hospital services.

The establishment of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College reflected the institution's commitment to fostering the development of the next generation of healthcare professionals and contributing significantly to the field of medical sciences. Building on this success, Mahatma Gandhi Dental College & Hospital was founded in 2003, expanding the institution's scope to dentistry. In the same year, Mahatma Gandhi Nursing College was also inaugurated, further diversifying the educational offerings.

The year 2005 witnessed the establishment of Mahatma Gandhi Physiotherapy College, further solidifying the institution's commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare education. As the colleges continued to flourish, the visionary leaders behind the institution harbored aspirations for greater accomplishments.

Key Milestones

In 2011, a monumental development occurred with the formal establishment of Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology.

This transformative step brought together the hospital and medical college under a unified academic umbrella, marking a significant milestone in the institution's evolution into a comprehensive university. Under the auspices of MGUMST, the institution embarked on a journey of continuous growth and diversification in its academic and research offerings.

The university emerged as a focal point for medical education, cutting-edge research, and top-notch healthcare services, drawing students and faculty from various corners of the country. This evolution underscored MGUMST's commitment to excellence and its pivotal role in shaping the future of medical education and healthcare.

India Education Trust

The Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology, Jaipur, is sponsored by the India Education Trust

It was established as a Public Charitable Trust and officially registered with the Devasthan Department, Government of Rajasthan, under the Rajasthan Public Trust Act, 1959 (Act No. 42 of 1959). The registration, bearing the number 20/Jaipur/1999, was granted on May 24, 1999.

Furthermore, the Trust holds registration with the Income Tax Department under Section 11 of the Income Tax Act, 1961, enjoying tax exemption. The central office of the India Education Trust is situated at RIICO Institutional Area, Sitapura, Tonk Road, Jaipur-302022.

The main objectives of the Trust are

    To undertake research and studies in Medical, Dental, Nursing, Physiotherapy and related disciplines

    To develop educational institutions conducting studies and research in these disciplines (c) to continuously improve the health status of people by providing primary as well as advanced health care

    To establish hospitals including specialty and super-specialty clinics, dispensaries, maternity homes and RCH centres

  • 04

    To develop health manpower by creating training centres for medical and allied health care professionals and to promote and support activities of other educational institutions which are catering and improving public health at large.
