The Department of Periodontology at the Mahatma Gandhi Dental College & Hospital, Jaipur offers a graduate and three-year postgraduate program leading to a Master of Dental Surgery degree awarded by the Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences & Technology, Jaipur. The advance training program in Periodontology is recognised by the Dental Council of India.

The discipline of Periodontics has a wide range of activities covering all aspects of Periodontology, bone regeneration, gingival plastic surgeries, laser therapy and surgical implant procedures. Research is a core activity of the section with many contributions that have developed in imaging and diagnosis which includes intraoral imaging camera, various advanced diagnostic aids and nonsurgical and surgical techniques for bone regeneration around teeth, alveolar bone and dental implants. As well as there are ongoing research projects focused on the role of bacteria in the development of periodontal disease and studies in the Epidemiology, Immunology and Systemic diseases involvement in periodontal disease. The department is well equipped with latest equipments which include LASER, Electrosurgery unit, Front Loading Autoclave, Water distillation plant and all recent bone graft and other regenerative materials.

Undergraduate Training

The under graduate program provides lectures, seminars, Clinical experiences and clinical teaching in the last two years of the four year dental curriculum exposed to a wide range of patients with periodontal problems and all students get extensive clinical experience in non surgical and observation and assistance in surgical periodontal procedures.

Postgraduate Training (MDS)

The goal of the postgraduate program is to provide advanced education in Periodontology to highly qualified graduate dentists who are interested in a career or specialized practice, teaching and research.

The two year Dental Hygiene Program is recognized by the Dental council of India.

The teaching faculty has publications in various PubMed Indexed, MedLine, national and international journals to their credit and have attended and participated in various national and international conferences. The post graduate students enrolled for the course have also participated and presented posters in national conference.
