Dr. Sunil Sharma is an accomplished Yoga educator, researcher, and wellness coach, presently serving as Assistant Professor of Yoga at the Centre of Yoga, Wellness, and Integrative Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology, Jaipur. Previously, he held the position of Assistant Professor (Yoga Education) at the Government College of Yoga Education and Health, Chandigarh (Oct 2023 – July 2025). With over seven years of teaching and coaching experience and more than five years in scholarly research and policy consultation, Dr. Sharma embodies a rare synergy between traditional Yogic wisdom and modern scientific inquiry. He holds a Ph.D. in Yoga from Himachal Pradesh University and possesses a diverse academic portfolio with postgraduate in Yoga from Haridwar and diploma in Yoga from Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Naturopathy, Statistics, Counselling, and Education. His professional engagements span roles such as Consultant with the Ministry of Ayush, Yoga Coach at Punjab Engineering College, and PGT in senior secondary education.
Dr. Sharma's areas of academic expertise include Yoga Anatomy and Therapy, Integrated Yogic Research, and curricular design. He has played a pivotal role in formulating Yoga syllabi for state-level institutions such as the Haryana Yog Aayog and SCERT. His teaching responsibilities encompass undergraduate and postgraduate courses, mentoring of dissertations, and facilitation of community outreach programs. Notably, his doctoral research focused on the efficacy of Yoga-based interventions in post-COVID recovery, underscoring his commitment to evidence-based therapeutic applications. He has supervised postgraduate research, presented at numerous national and international forums, and holds the UGC-NET qualification in Yoga. Certified by the Yoga Certification Board (YCB), he is proficient in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and possesses working knowledge of Sanskrit, enabling him to traverse traditional and contemporary knowledge systems effectively.
