Overview

The Department of Pathology at MGMCH is a cornerstone of the hospital's clinical services, providing essential investigations to both outpatient and inpatients.

With a focus on highly equipped facilities and cutting-edge technology, the department is committed to delivering accurate and timely results for all types of diagnostic tests.

Microbiology

One of the key features of the Department of Pathology is the NABL accredited laboratory, which is equipped with the latest haematology analyzers, urine analyzers, and facilities for coagulation studies. This ensures that patients receive most efficient and reliable testing, leading to accurate diagnoses and hence, a specialised treatment targeted towards their specific needs. The laboratory operates 24 hours a day offering services such as cytology, liquid based cytology (LBC), histopathology, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) under the guidance of experienced faculty members.

In addition to its advanced laboratory services, the Department of Pathology also provides a comprehensive educational programme for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The department features modern teaching laboratories and air-conditioned lecture theatres with audiovisual facilities, creating an optimal learning environment for students.

Each year, the department admits 10 postgraduate students for the MD programme, providing them with a rigorous teaching schedule that includes discussions, seminars, and journal clubs focused on the latest advances in pathology.

One of the highlights of the Department of Pathology is its pathology museum that showcases the diversity of pathology and its impact on patient care. With a collection of over 500 specimens, the museum serves as a valuable resource for both students and faculty, allowing them to study a wide range of diseases and conditions up close.
