Regional Centre for Medical Education and Technologies

In March 2022, the Medical Education Unit of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College, Jaipur, achieved a significant milestone as the National Medical Commission (NMC) declared it the first Regional Centre for Medical Education Technologies in Rajasthan. The center, currently overseeing 22 Medical Colleges from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, and plays a pivotal role in training faculty members for the seamless implementation of the Competency Based Medical Education Curriculum.

Commission (NMC)

The selection process for the Regional Centre was rigorous, with the NMC receiving 94 applications from colleges across India. Following ground inspections, 22 colleges were shortlisted, and Mahatma Gandhi Medical College emerged as one of the 10 selected Regional Centres. The center has a pivotal role to play in making the compentency based medical education be implemented smoothly not only at the UG level but also at the PG and superspeciality.

The Department of Medical Education faculty, most of whom are trained in the Advanced Course in Medical Education (ACME), play a crucial role in facilitating this transition. The faculty members from the Department of Medical Education at the Regional Centre have been nominated as observers by the NMC to conduct and observe the workshops conducted at the various medical colleges.
